Here at Fritillary we have been thrilled to find a whole new set of friends and enthusiasts in a world which was completely alien to us … but is becoming more familiar! What a beautiful art fly tying is
Shown on this page are just some of the beautiful flies which have been created including our silks, and don’t forget that we also have a selection of specialist threads: Kreinik blending filaments and DMC metallics which might also be useful.

“All Tess silks are perfect for fly tying …. As well as “Water World” check out the Silk Threads and Silk Packs pages for a huge variety of shades”
"Of course, here in Suffolk, we don't have have the exotic fly fishing of further afield - but here Pam's son, Ian, with his prize catch from boyhood! Maybe not a salmon, but he was proud of it, as you can see!"
"NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A SERIOUS FISH!!
Thank you, Philip (one of our favourite tiers!) for allowing us to show it"
Our fine flat floss silk is rather like Jap silk, but much finer (standard is 90 denier, but we also have an even finer, twisted silk in black and white), so you don’t have to split down the thread (which I know is always a tricky business – and not successful every time – we have to use the same technique in embroidery!). It is perfect for tags and short butt end joints – and no doubt many more applications which I don’t yet know about – and we have a wonderful selection of colours, including pinks, yellows, oranges, lilacs and a great selection of greens, which are often not available in Japanese silks.
If you require any specially coloured silks, send us a sample of the shade you are trying to match and we will see what we can do, and do look through our colour charts to see our full “off the shelf” range. We try to turnaround orders in 48 hours, so if there’s a fish out there you are anxious to catch maybe we can help!
Do send us illustrations of any flies you are proud of – we love to see what our silks can achieve.
