Each year the True Embroideries Studio offers a full series of Masterclasses to suit all levels of expertise. Helen’s classes are informal and fun, with one-to-one tuition a popular feature.
All Helen's Masterclasses will be run at:
The Regency House Hotel, 3 Looms Lane, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 1HE
The Regency House Hotel is an elegant House with facilities that mean our classes are intimate and self-contained. The Regency is close to Bury St. Edmunds town centre and historic attractions, but with ample parking. Meals are served on each day of classes and accommodation is available. We are happy to advise with regard to booking accommodation here, or elsewhere.
Please note classifications:
Introductory classes are for those who have never been to one of Helen's classes before - not necessarily for those who are inexperienced at embroidery generally. However, if you are a 'beginner' at embroidery itself, don't be afraid to join one of these classes - you will be taken through all the techniques step by step from design to completion - they really are for everyone!
Intermediate and/or Advanced classes are for those who have already attended at least one of Helen’s classes or have studied with her “On-line”.
Fees are £40.00 + VAT (VAT not applicable in the case of overseas bookings) per student per day and include a cup of coffee in the morning. Please note that a £25.00 deposit is required when booking with the balance due 6/8weeks before the class.
Classes start at 10:00 am and finish at 4:00 pm.
Early booking recommended, as class numbers are restricted!

“SPRING FORWARD” A return to Helen’s traditional ground – the Countryside. In this class we explore a delightful spring subject encompassing flower, butterfly and animal. A clue? Featuring the return of Mr. Mousie, one on Helen’s most popular characters!
“ANIMAL MAGIC II” Following the success of last year’s class, we return to the weird and wonderful world of unusual beasties! Or, if you prefer, Helen will guide you through the interpretation of a portrait of your own favourite pet.
“PHOTO-SIN-THESIS” Intrigued? You will be! Helen has often explained the importance of treating your photographic subject matter with caution … if you are working from the photograph of a bird remember that you are working an embroidery of a bird, not of a photograph of a bird! This will be a fascinating class which will really stretch and improve your design technique.
An opportunity for those new to Helen’s techniques to learn basic skills in her unique style. Complete beginners to embroidery are welcome, as well as more experienced stitchers who are not familiar with Helen’s specific methods.
Winter Three Day 4/5/6 December INTERMEDIATE
“COMFORT AND JOY” Christmas begins here with a charming study of wildlife in the run-up to winter – with a seasonal twist! As usual there will be a optional Christmas meal in the company of Helen and Pam, and a few other little surprises along the festive way.
