Fine fabrics are at the heart of the Fritillary experience – all of the fabrics which we use for our fashions and furnishings are available by the metre for you to create your own look. For patchwork and quilting enthusiasts “panels” are available and “fat quarters” by request.

How do we create our fabrics?
|
|
All Fritillary fabrics begin life as detailed embroideries, worked in pure silk and precious metal threads. At her studio, True Embroideries, Helen works in techniques that have changed little since the heyday of medieval embroidery, creating images which capture the essence of the English countryside. Her designs are first sketched in pencil, then transferred onto fabric and embroidered in lifelike colours.

Once completed, the embroideries are scanned and printed onto fabric – silk crepe de chine, organza, fine cotton – either as single images or repeat patterns. This is where Paula’s techno-genius comes to the rescue. The finest quality dyes and colour reproduction ensure that the final impression is as vibrant as the original. Three-dimensional effects are retained and every stitch is faithfully reproduced. The urge to touch is irresistible!

Many of Helen's needlework tools and accessories, such as her embroidery easel and bobbin Joe have evolved to look beautiful in their own right – we have recreated these to share with other needlework enthusiasts. You can see more of them on our Furnishings page!

The fabric then goes on to be made up into any of our excusive range of garments, accessories or furnishings, or can be purchased by the metre.

Any individual motif from any of our fabrics is available as a printed panel on cotton 8"x8" (20cm x 20cm) as a centre piece for your own quilt or patchwork creation. “Fat quarters” of any of our silks are also available.
