Welcome to Helen M. Stevens' website - if you love textiles, fine art and the countryside, this is the place for you! For the past 25 years Helen's aim has been to share her knowledge with other enthusiasts - through her original artwork, live embroidery classes, lectures, workshops, books and, more recently, on-line tutorials. Now you can also buy everything you need to stitch the True Embroideries way through our on-line shop - fine pure silks, materials and needlework tools.
And if you are interested in patchwork, quilting, needlepoint, tapestry or cross stitch you are still in the right place: Helen's concepts are relevant to almost every discipline!

Hello everyone and welcome to my super all-new website – a combined site for both www.helenmstevens.co.uk and www.fritillary.co.uk which now both reside under my new “umbrella”: Helen M. Stevens International Ltd. A huge pat on the back to both Paula and Pam, who have worked incredibly hard to make this new site what it is – comprehensive, easy to navigate, and incorporating many new features such as even simpler and safer ordering and enrolment in classes and fabulous new Virtual Galleries – both of my own work and students’ contributions from live and on-line Masterclasses.

Speaking of umbrellas, here in England we are in mid summer … so welcome, too, to my new summerhouse, nestled in the corner of my cottage garden, from where I shall soon be writing my regular blog: “The Country Diary of an Embroidery Lady”. Watch this space to tell you when it comes on line.

It is only just over a month now until my major exhibition this year, “FULL CIRCLE”, at Ickworth House, Horringer, near Bury St. Edmunds, in Suffolk – another superb National Trust property, following “THE GOLDEN ROAD” at Wimpole. It was great to see so many of you at Wimpole Hall earlier this year – if you enjoyed that you will enjoy this … even more! Go to the Exhibitions page for full details of opening times, etc.
In the meantime enjoy exploring this new site … do let us know if you have any comments (there are still a few additions to make, so be patient if anything is not quite up to speed yet) and rest assured that we will be making it a “home from home” to everyone who loves embroidery, textiles and the countryside.
Have a wonderful high summer – and to those of you in the Southern hemisphere a peaceful winter… I shall hope to be back “down under” before too long. Look out for my new postcards some of which will incorporate international themes based on my overseas tours.
Much love to you all,
Helen

A member of the Society of Women Artists, Helen has taken the art of hand embroidery to extraordinary heights. Her pure silk creations are in collections worldwide, both public and private, including the Palace of Westminster. It may be that traditional forms of hand embroidery and needlepainting are your favourites: stem stitch, feather stitch, long stitch, seed stitch, fly stitch – their very names conjure pictures in silk of the English countryside. Fritillary and our sister site www.helenmstevens.co.uk will take you places you have never been before! Or perhaps you need pure silk hand embroidery threads and fine silk fabric for other arts and crafts: hand or machine stitchers will love our fabrics available by the meter, panel or fat quarter. We also supply a superb miscellany of craftsman made needlework tools, cabinets and beautiful, useful objet d’dart.
And for those of you who want to indulge yourselves without the stitching – we have a range of ready made garments and accessories.
